Wyoming State Sen. Leland Christensen (R-Teton) officially launched his campaign for Wyoming Treasurer today (Thursday).

Speaking in his hometown of Alta, Christensen said he's running because "Wyoming’s dollars should work as hard as Wyoming people do."

"Folks are already facing the threat of new taxes," said Christensen. "As Treasurer, I’ll help fight the threat of higher taxation."

"Increasing investment returns can be the difference between a Wyoming income tax and no Wyoming income tax," he added.

Christensen also spoke briefly about his decision to seek the office of Treasurer instead of pursuing a campaign for Secretary of State.

"As a member of the Wyoming Republican Central Committee who voted on the appointment of a new Secretary of State, I am supportive of Gov. Mead’s appointment of Ed Buchanan," said Christensen.

Further information on Christensen's campaign and opportunities to meet him as he travels throughout the state can be found in the coming weeks at lelandforwyoming.com or on Facebook at Leland Christensen for Wyoming.
