Cheyenne Transit Program Needs Your Input

The Cheyenne Metropolitan Transportation Organization (MPO) is updating the five-year development plan for the Cheyenne Transit Program (CTP) and is soliciting public input via an on-line Community Survey. The study is undertaken in cooperation with city officials.

“Our bus system has evolved over 20 years and it is good policy to keep a close eye on how well it is meeting the travel needs of residents and contributing to the local economy,” said Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen about the survey effort. “The survey is a convenient way for riders and others to participate in planning for the next five years.”

The Community Survey may be accessed via the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2R7T6CN. Individuals who do not have access to a computer are encouraged to visit the Laramie County Public Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave., or contact Transit Director Joe Dougherty at 637-6383 for a paper copy of the survey.

CTP provided 284,000 rides last year, of which over 25 percent were senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Buses run hourly on six routes between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. CTP buses travel about 500,000 miles annually. Additionally, curb-to-curb service is available for disabled persons who are eligible under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and seniors. The curb-to-curb is also available to persons whose point of origination or point of destination is within the service boundaries.

The survey is one of several public outreach forums planned during the four-month study. Citizens can attend public meetings later this spring to review the study findings and recommendations before a final report is issued. The project is funded by Federal Transit Administration and Federal Highway Administration planning grants passed through the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
