Cheyenne Woman Waives Hearing in Prescription Drug Theft Case

A 41-year-old Cheyenne woman accused of stealing more than $2,400 worth of prescription drugs from her employer has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Antonia Sharp was arrested on Jan. 23 after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy investigating a DUI case found her passed out behind the wheel of her truck with her 6-year-old child in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of Sharp's truck revealed she had 132 hydrocodone pills, 28 oxycodone pills and 153 grams of liquid morphine, all of which were prescribed to other people.

Sharp reportedly admitted to stealing the prescriptions from Granite Rehabilitation and Wellness, where she'd recently been hired as the assistant nursing coordinator.

It was later learned that Sharp had additional stolen medications in her home and a search warrant was served on Jan. 29, which turned up two lorazepam prescriptions, a zolpidem prescription and three more oxycodone prescriptions.

Sharp is charged with five felonies and four misdemeanors, including possession with intent to deliver hydrocodone and oxycodone, felony possession of hydrocodone and morphine and felony theft. If convicted on all nine counts, she could face up to 66 years in prison.

Sharp is free on a $3,000 at 10 percent bond, which was posted this (Friday) afternoon. Her arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.
