Cheyenne Woman Facing Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

A 29-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing multiple drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

According to an affidavit, Margret Hughs was riding in an SUV that was stopped near the Rodeo Inn at 3839 E. Lincolnway on Jan. 3 for having no rear license plate light.

When police searched Hughs, they found a glass pipe with marijuana residue, a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine on her.

Police also found a backpack containing Hughs' cellphone, 7.5 grams of methamphetamine, 2.7 grams of cocaine and 28.2 grams of marijuana and a backpack containing two methamphetamine pipes and a payment/credit card with Hughs' name on it in the SUV.

Another passenger, Benjamin Ketcham, reportedly told police that Hughs met him at the Rodeo Inn to sell him narcotics. He said he fully intended to buy narcotics from Hughs and that they were driving to a gas station so he could get cash.

Hughs was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She's facing up to 29 years in prison if convicted on all four counts.

Hughs is currently being held in the Laramie County jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 10 a.m.
