Cheyenne Tree Planting Scheduled In Honor Of Valdez

The Cheyenne City Council will hold a tree planting ceremony on Friday, April 14 in honor of the late Ward I City Councilman, Jimmy Valdez.

The event is slated for 1 p.m. at Romero Park, 1317 Parsley Blvd.

Valdez was serving his fifth term on the city council when he suddenly passed away in September of 2015.

Valdez was first elected to the council in 1998 and served his first term from 1999 to 2002.  He was then appointed to fill a vacant unexpired term on the council in March of 2004 and continued to represent Ward I until his death.Friday's event is open to the public.
