It seems that every time we turn around, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is coming up with new ways to take care of its patients.

At the east campus, better known as the old De Paul Hospital, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center now has a new simulation lab, to help train nurses in the most realistic ways possible.

There are 'patients' in the lab, that look a lot like you and me, however, they are simply simulators that are designed to respond, look and behave like humans. They can be manipulated to scream in pain, pass out, be in shock and are used to help train doctors and nurses in a more realistic environment.

Most of these type of simulators are found at college campuses, like that one a LCCC here in Cheyenne. CRMC understands that in order for their caregivers to be at the ready at all times, a simulator like this needs to be.

Doctors and nurses can be graded on skill and response times, all controlled in another room and monitored by training personnel. Now the hospital is reaching out to the public to help sponsor up-to-date mannequin's to aid in the training.
