Cheyenne Police are warning residents not to fall for a warrant scam in which scammers call people and threaten to arrest them for missing jury duty.

"It appears people are calling alleging that they're (from the) Casper Police Department," said Officer Kevin Malatesta.

"(They're) impersonating officers saying that whoever they're calling has a warrant for not appearing in court for jury duty and they can have that warrant waived by paying a certain amount to this person," Malatesta added.

Malatesta says police and the courts do not operate in this manner.

He urges anyone who receives a call like this to not send any money and contact police.
