A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department is urging people to use the department's website to report crimes and access information.

Officer Dan Long says in addition to department new releases and other information, you can also file crime reports online. He says the site is ideal for reporting crimes where the value of the property is less than $1000 and you don't have a suspect.

Long says you can also provide tips to police about illegal drug activity, robberies, or any other crime. The website also has information on crimes in the city, including their location, as well as details on police events such as the annual "Neighborhood Night Out" Block Parties.

Cheyenne Police will also post information on whether you need to immediately report minor traffic accidents during winter storms. The department often asks that those reports be postponed during severe storms because officers are too busy to take them.
