The Cheyenne Police Department Traffic Unit is making a special effort to enforce the laws against passing a school bus that has it's flashing red lights activated, according to spokesman Officer Dan Long.

He says the unit has looked at statistics on areas of the city where the law is frequently violated and combined that complaints from residents about motorists violating the law to decide which areas of the city to target. Long says the special enforcement is already underway, but says officers will continue to target problem areas for violations through the rest of this month.

People who are ticketed for passing a school bus with flashing red lights can receive a $225 fine under local ordinance, according to Long
