Cheyenne Police Discuss Student’s Death

(Cheyenne Police Department)

Cheyenne Police say 18-year-old Andrea Battle, found dead Thursday morning at East High School, died from exposure after a traffic accident.

Police Capt. Mitch Maxwell said a video camera at the school showed Battle running away from the scene after her car hit the Cheyenne Little Theater in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Battle was not wearing a coat and the temperature at the time was about 10°. Maxwell said officers and Battle’s father searched the immediate area of the accident, but did not find her.

The video showed Battle later walking back to the school, where her body was found several hours later. Maxwell said a friend told police she apparently had been drinking earlier in the evening.

Maxwell said the toxicology reports won’t be available for about a month.
