Cheyenne Frontier Days attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, many entering the state from Colorado where marijuana is legal.

But despite what you may think, police say pot really isn't a big problem at CFD.

"It is something that we encounter and we deal with appropriately," said Officer Kevin Malatesta. "I wouldn't say it's a large problem for us."

Because of the influx of people, Cheyenne naturally sees a spike in crime during Frontier Days, but Malatesta says marijuana arrests are proportional to that increase.

"Our marijuana numbers would probably be higher as well, but that would probably just be a reflection of the increased population," said Malatesta.

Police issued eight tickets for marijuana possession during CFD last year and six in 2015.
