Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says that overall crime is showing a long-term decline in the city.

He says that overall crime has declined by about 27 percent in Cheyenne over the last four years. He says there is evidence the trend is continuing this year, citing official police statistics that only 12 burglaries were reported in the city in April compared to 25 in March.

Kozak credits both his department and the public for the decline, and says cooperation between the two has been especially helpful in reducing crime.
