The Cheyenne Police Department is looking for a few good men and women to join their ranks, according to Officer Dan Long.

He says the department is currently understaffed by about seven officers and will be testing applicants on Jan. 19 and 20. The deadline for applying is Jan. 13.

Long says the process of joining the force takes about a year, and include physical and written tests, a background check, oral testing, and training at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas. More information is available at the Cheyenne Police Department website.

Police Chief Brian Kozak also has posted an article on the department's facebook page inviting prospective applicants to call him directly at 637-6512 if they have any questions
