Many will celebrate the Fourth of July with a cold one and Cheyenne police will be out in full force to deter people from driving drunk.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says the department will be conducting DUI task forces this weekend and next weekend as well as on Independence Day.

"The Fourth of July is typically one of our busiest days of the year," said Malatesta. "Everybody's got it off, everybody's out hanging out and doing stuff, so we get a lot of activity on that day.

"Having it right in the middle of the week (this year) definitely impacts us in that we have two weekends to be concerned with as well," he added.

Malatesta urges people to think before they drink and to call 911 or local law enforcement if they suspect someone is driving drunk.
