A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says the PD swore in three new officers on Friday.

Officer Dan Long says Craig Sanne, Mike Fernandez and Dan Twomey are the latest to join the force. He says the new officers bring the total staffing at the department to 104, including Chief Brian Kozak. Long says several new applicants have filed recently to join the department, so the agency is hoping to get even closer to full staffing in the near future.

Long says rookie police officers at the Cheyenne PD always start out as patrol officers to get experience, and from there have the opportunity to move into various other specialties, including the SWAT team, canine unit and other specialized areas of law enforcement.
