A spokesman for the City of Cheyenne says roadwork on the Eighth Avenue project adjacent to Lion's Pork won't impact traffic patterns and parking availability for the annual Superday celebration in the park on Saturday, June 24.

Scott Smith notes work crews and heavy equipment have been working in the area as part of the Eighth Avenue street project, limiting traffic to single lanes and eliminating some parking for the park area on Eighth Avenue.

But he says the contractor on the project has agreed to temporarily clear the way for normal traffic and parking patterns on Saturday to accommodate the thousands of people who are expected to attend the annual event at Lion's Park. The 35th Annual Cheyenne HollyFrontier Superday is scheduled for 10 a.m. to  4 p.m. on Saturday.

The family-oriented event typically draws several thousand people to the park area.

Smith says work crews will return to the area next week to continue work on the project, which includes the replacement of curb, gutter and sidewalk areas.
