The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne issued the following special weather statement on Friday morning:

Confidence has increased that there will be slightly higher snowfall amounts over the South Laramie Range including the I-80 summit between Cheyenne and Laramie.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for this area. Snowfall amounts near the summit will range from 6-8 inches.

As the snow develops late this morning, temperatures will fall into
the 20s. Once the snow starts, it will likely come down heavily for a while.
The colder temperatures along with heavier rates will likely cause snow to
accumulate on roads more quickly than the last few systems.

We have also expanded the Winter Weather Advisory to include central Laramie County including the Cheyenne area.

As the snow develops late this morning or early in the afternoon, heavier
snowfall rates may be able to overcome warmer road surfaces for a time and allow
for some slushy accumulation on the roads. Roughly 2-3 inches of snow is forecast for Cheyenne.
