Cheyenne Microsoft Expansion Announced

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Microsoft data center on the outskirts of Cheyenne will undergo a $200 million expansion that would double the number of people employed there.

Gov. Matt Mead and Cheyenne business leaders announced the expansion Tuesday. The construction timeline is uncertain but Mead's office says work could begin as early as this summer.

The expansion will create 25 new jobs, up from the 25 people who work at the center now.

Microsoft began developing the data center in early 2012. State officials say Microsoft will have invested $750 million in the facility by the time the latest work is complete.
