Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr is not happy about the activation of emergency warning sirens in the city on Sunday afternoon.

The sirens went off at around 4:50 p.m. as a tornado warning was in effect in rural parts of Laramie County. While tornadoes were reported in the Horse Creek/Federal area and near or on Interstate 25 north of the city, the National Weather Service says Cheyenne itself was never in any immediate danger of being hit by a twister.

The sirens are activated by Laramie County Emergency Management.

The mayor took to Twitter late Sunday afternoon to say she was "Unsure why sirens were deployed, but I will get to the bottom of it. This is unacceptable and wrongly panicked our community."

Preliminary reports indicate there was some property damage in western Laramie County from tornadoes, but no one was seriously injured or killed.
