Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr is going back to school in New York City as one of 40 mayors from across the country chosen for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.

According to a release from the City of Cheyenne, the course is taught by faculty members from Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School as well as ''world-class experts from Bloomberg Philanthropies global network."

Former New York City Mayor Micheal Bloomberg and outgoing Harvard University President Drew Faust created the initiative in 2016.

The year-long program began on Sunday with a three-day convening, and the mayor is attending at no cost to the City of Cheyenne. The release says the course features classroom sessions on cutting-edge management and leadership practices.

The mayor is not the only Cheyenne city official who will receive training through the course. In August, Mayor Orr's Cheif of Staff, Eric Fountain and Assistant Attorney Alessandra McCoy Fakelman also receive special training through the course.
