A Cheyenne man accused of slapping, punching and putting a teenage boy in a headlock last May has been sentenced to five years of first-offender probation.

Forty-eight-year-old David Long was sentenced Thursday in Laramie County District Court.

According to court documents, the teen told police that Long slapped him across the face, punched him in the mouth and put him in a headlock and taunted him after the two got into an argument about an upcoming move.

Long pleaded no contest to a single count of physical child abuse in November. In exchange for his plea, the prosecution recommended probation rather than prison time.

If Long successfully completes his probation he will be able to keep the felony conviction off his criminal record.
