Cheyenne Man Facing Felony Drug Charges After Search Warrant Executed

A 44-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony drug charges after a raid at his home turned up a large amount of heroin and cash.

According to court documents, a search warrant was carried out at Leon Daniels' residence in the 2700 block of Evans Avenue on March 10.

Authorities found 18 grams of heroin and a digital scale on Daniels' bedroom dresser. They also found 26.7 grams of heroin, 2 grams of methamphetamine and $2,300 in a safe.

Daniels reportedly admitted the items belonged to him. He also stated that he wasn't a drug dealer, he just sold to a few people so he could pay for his heroin habit.

When questioned about a stolen Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic pistol that was found in a dresser drawer, Daniels said it was a paper weight and that he paid $50 for it.

Daniels has been charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and receiving stolen property. He could face up to 29 and a half years in prison if convicted on all five counts.

Daniels is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on $10,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
