A 26-year-old Cheyenne man could face up to ten years in prison after allegedly trying to steal a car from a used car dealership.

According to an affidavit, police were called to Zoe Auto Sales at 701 E. Lincolnway around 11:30 a.m. on June 16, after Tyler Fleming reportedly tried to drive off in a 2006 Honda Civic valued at $7991.

Employees say Fleming got into the car, which had the keys in it, and began moving it. As he was backing up, the sales manager reportedly opened the driver's door and confronted him.

Fleming got out of the car and began walking east on E. Lincolnway. Police located Fleming in the 1200 block of E. Lincolnway, but he ran. He was caught and tackled to the ground on the east side of Holliday Park at 1001 E. Lincolnway.

During the chase, police saw Fleming throw something into a trash can which was later determined to be a methamphetamine pipe with burnt residue. During the booking process, Fleming reportedly admitted to smoking meth that morning.

Fleming has been charged with a single count of attempted theft.

Fleming is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on $5,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 28 at 1:30 p.m.
