A 53-year-old Cheyenne man was arrested early Sunday morning for stabbing another man at the Big Horn Motel, according to a spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says 53-year-old Phillip Grenz of Cheyenne called 911 at around 2:30 a.m. saying he had stabbed someone and needed to go to jail. Malatesta says when police got there they found Grenz, who was drunk, admitted to stabbing 57-year-old Richard Loucks in the leg.

Grenz said he was angry at Loucks over a $200 debt Loucks owed him.

Police also found a large hunting knife that they believed was used in the stabbing. Loucks was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for treatment. Grenz was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to the Laramie County Jail.

Malatesta says the case is still under investigation.
