A 21-year-old Cheyenne man is in custody for second-degree murder after authorities say he shot his roommate to death.

Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell say deputies were called to 4401 Avenue B-2 around 2 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) after Cody Hess reported shooting his roommate, 35-year-old Michael Robbins.

"Hess stated he shot Robbins three times in the upper chest area," Gesell said in a press release. "An autopsy was completed and two bullets were recovered from Mr. Robbins."

Gesell says two rounds went into Robbins' left chest and one bullet grazed his left hand.

Hess is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Laramie County District Attorney's Office.
