A 30-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after police say he stole thousands of dollars worth of items from six vehicles and a garage.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says Ryan Bixler was arrested on June 5 after detectives linked him to seven different burglaries which occurred between mid-April and late May.

"He was checking out parking lots, particularly of hardware stores, and just looking for vehicles that were unlocked or items that he could take from vehicles," said Malatesta.

"Items that were taken included welding cables and a welder off the back of a truck as well as a wallet, tools that were newly purchased, a guitar, a credit card and then a bicycle that was taken from a garage," he added.

Bixler made his initial court appearance yesterday (Wednesday) on a single count of felony theft. His bond was set at $3,000 cash and his preliminary hearing set for June 14 at 11 a.m.
