Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is offering free blood pressure checks on Tuesday.

Spokeswoman Kathy Baker says the checks will be available between 9am and noon in the hospital's main lobby. High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure and kidney disease, all of which are major causes of death in the United States.

It has been called the silent killer because it often has no symptoms and no warning signs. Besides the testing, clinical staff from Cheyenne Cardiology Associates and CRMC will hand out free ''know your numbers" wallet cards to explain to participants what their blood pressure numbers mean for their health.
