Tourism, Cheyenne Frontier Days and City of Cheyenne officials are all predicting big crowds for Cheyenne Frontier Days 2016.

CFD General Chair BIll Berg said recently the crowds the last couple of years have been exceptional, adding low gas prices this year should serve to bolster that trend even more. Visit Cheyenne President Darren Rudloff says his organization has been receiving a lot of early inquiries about CFD events, which usually bodes well for attendance figures.

He also says the addition of two new motels in Cheyenne likely means more visitors will actually stay in the city rather than getting rooms in Fort Collins or Laramie. That's good news for the local economy because people staying here are more likely to buy food, gas and other products in Cheyenne as well.

Mayor Rick Kaysen and Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO President and CEO Dale Steenbergen are likewise predicting near-record attendance this year. Steenbergen says CFD is "like a second Christmas" for many local businesses.

He says some businesses in the city make 50 percent or more of their profit for the year, making Frontier Days ''make or break" time.
