The City of Cheyenne and Cheyenne Frontier Days will once again present a free public fireworks show on Friday, July 4th at Frontier Park.

Visit Cheyenne CEO Darren Rudloff says the gates will open at 5:30 p.m. He says the band Country Club as well as the Air Force Band Tops in Blue will perform for the next few hours, with the fireworks show starting around 9:35.

The fireworks show is a longstanding public tradition in Cheyenne, and Rudloff says it should be a ''great family fun event" again this year.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman officer Dan Long says he possession and/or use of fireworks is illegal within the city limits of Cheyenne, with violators liable for a $200 fine. Long says police will be aggressively looking for violators through the holiday on Friday night, including foot patrols in many parts of the city.
