Cheyenne Fire and Rescue firefighters have responded to two structure fires since Tuesday evening.

The first structure fire was reported at 11:30 p.m. at 3068 Reed Ave. on Tuesday, April 17. Firefighters had the fire extinguished within minutes of their arrival. Four occupants and three pets were inside the single-family dwelling when the fire started. One occupant was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. That occupant was treated for injuries and released.

The fire was contained to a . basement bedroom. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and damage is estimated at $15,000 to $20,000. Cheyenne Fire and Rescue officials remind homeowners to make sure their smoke detectors are operating properly and have fresh batteries.

A fire Wednesday morning, April 18, at a BNSF rail yard office building, 1201 W. 27th Street, resulted in no injuries. The fire was reported around 9 a.m. The fire was contained to the attic of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. There were no injuries.
