The arresting deputy says Ramirez-Ramirez also had a domestic battery warrant signed by Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Sean C. Chambers on Oct. 14. The incident is alleged to have occurred on Oct. 12.

Ramirez-Ramirez was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on his warrant as well as a single count of duty to stop, both misdemeanors punishable by up to six months in jail, up to a $750 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearance

That afternoon, Ramirez-Ramirez was seen in Circuit Court in front of Chambers on the charges.

Chambers appointed Ramirez-Ramirez a public defender then asked for the state's bond recommendation.

A History of Domestic Violence

"The state will be enhancing this to a domestic battery - third or subsequent offense," the state said. "Mr. Ramirez-Ramirez does have a history of similar behavior including two prior domestic convictions from 2018."

The state also pointed out a failure to appear from New Mexico in 2017, another failure to appear from 2018, an escape from 2020, two contempts of court from 2024, and various unrelated weapons charges.

"All of that gives the state significant concern for Mr. Ramirez-Ramirez's ability to comply with court orders and willingness to do so," the state said.

"The underlying conduct here and the escalating conduct involving this victim ... certainly gives the state serious concerns for the victim's safety," the state added. "For those reasons the state believes that a cash bond is appropriate and would request $5,000 cash."

Bond Set at $5K Cash

"I'm going to set a $5,000 cash only bond," Chambers told Ramirez-Ramirez. "Your case will be set for an arraignment for Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. and I think you should anticipate that you'll be seen in court again."

Enhanced Charge

On Nov. 4, Ramirez-Ramirez was seen in Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on an enhanced charge of domestic battery - third or subsequent offense, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

"The state alleges you did knowingly or recklessly, being a household member, cause bodily injury to another household member," Williams told Ramirez-Ramirez. "And you've previously been convicted of the same or similar offense on March 6, 2018, that was two counts."

Out on Bond

Williams kept bond in the domestic battery case at $5,000 cash and set a $100 cash bond in the duty to stop case, which Ramirez-Ramirez later posted.

Ramirez-Ramirez is scheduled to be back in Circuit Court for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 12 at 2:15 p.m.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
