The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum's annual gala this year will celebrate 70 years of F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

The base was officially designated in 1947, the same year the U.S. Air Force was founded. The base had previously served as Fort D.A. Russell, an army outpost which dated back to 1867 and was originally named for a civil war hero. The gala is scheduled for Oct.7 at the Cheyenne Radisson Hotel. Attire for the event will be 1940s glamour wear or red, white and blue western wear. Tickets are $100 each.

Reservations are required. More information is available here.
