The 10th annual Cheyenne Day of Giving is slated for May 8th at the Community House in Lion's Park.

The day of giving is an annual Cheyenne event dedicated to helping less fortunate people in the community. Day of Giving 2015 President Caroline Veit says the event helps a wide range of local groups, including the Boys&Girls Club of Cheyenne, Comea House, Home Away From Home, Interfaith Family Support Services and many others.

She says people can help by donating non-perishable food items such as pasta, peanut butter, cereal and other items that won't spoil. Personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, razors and diapers are also needed.

Veit says you can also donate cash, or items such as walkers or wheelchairs that will help people with mobility issues. Yet another way to help is by donating used eyeglasses or hearing aids.

And finally people can donate blood to United Blood Services, or sign up to donate bone marrow with the Colorado Marrow Donor Program. More information on the Day of Giving is avialable on the event website.
