The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

BOPU spokesman Clint Bassett says the award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government organization and its management.

The 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report summarizes how the BOPU invested revenues from water and sewer bills back into Cheyenne’s water and sewer systems. The report includes brief descriptions of major projects, a history of Cheyenne’s water development, a report from an independent auditor, and a statistical section of Cheyenne’s water and sewer systems and finances.

This is the 36th consecutive year the BOPU has received the award.
