Have you enjoyed a picnic at Vedauwoo yet this summer?

The rock formations and recreational area off Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie offers an abundance of birds, scenery and wildlife. Take a field trip there with the Cheyenne chapter of the Audubon Society on Saturday, September 19.

The Cheyenne High Plains chapter of the National Audubon Society is planning a field trip to Turtle Rock at the Vedauwoo Recreation Area on Saturday, September 19. The group will depart from the Lions Park parking lot between the Paul Smith Children's Village and the Old Community House at 8 a.m. The trip will take about 45 minutes each way.

You can choose to caravan or carpool to the Vedauwoo Recreation Area on Pole Mountain. Participants are asked to bring a lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, insect repellent and layers of clothing appropriate for the weather. You may also want to bring binoculars and your bird guide, if you have one, along with a pair of comfortable walking shoes.
