Are you a bird watcher? You might want to register for the big bird-day party.

The Cheyenne High Plains Audubon Society will celebrate it's 40th anniversary with a banquet, field trip, speakers, kid's program and more from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28, at Laramie County Community College's CCI Building.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 17, at 5 p.m. The keynote speaker at the banquet on September 27 will be John W. Fitzpatrick from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Starting at 6 p.m., he'll speak about 'How Birds Can Save the World.'

Activities during the Audubon Society's bird-day weekend include a field trip to the Wyoming Hereford Ranch, Kid's Exploring Wildlife workshop, a variety of speakers, roundtable discussion and a silent auction.

The Cheyenne High Plains Audubon Society began in 1974, before that there was a bird club in Cheyenne affiliated with the Wyoming Audubon Society. There is even a mention of an Audubon presence in Cheyenne about 1902.
