Laramie County School District#1 Superintendent Mark Stock says the district is working to improve junior high math scores.

Stock says those scores are one of the weakest academic areas in the district and have been an issue for at least the last couple of years.  At one point the scores were significantly below national averages. Since then the district has made the classes tougher and improved the local scores to just slightly below national averages.

Stock says next year the junior high class schedule will change so that students have a math class every day, about twice the amount of time that had been spent on those classes.

Stock says the goal is to improve the local scores to the national average or above within the next year.
