Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says the local economy seems to be doing quite well with all signs pointing to continued growth.

Steenbergen notes the new Cheyenne Menards store recently opened and says "we have businesses opening all over". He adds the local unemployment rate continues to edge downward, although he admits "that isn't happening as quickly as we would like". Steenbergen says the local oil industry is showing steady growth, with a couple of new rigs operating in the area.

Steenbergen also says the local housing market is steadily improving, calling it's growth in recent months "astounding". Finally Steenbergen says he thinks plans to improve the downtown Cheyenne area, which have included the Wyoming Business Council, should pay dividends over the long term as well.
