CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — About 500 potential jurors are being summoned to court for the upcoming trial of a Cheyenne man accused of shooting and killing two people in 2011.

Starting Tuesday, 25 people are scheduled to report to court for questioning each day as lawyers pick the jury for the Nathanial Castellanos trial.

The trial has been delayed twice. First, experts needed time to evaluate whether he was able to stand trial. When he was found to be competent, the trial was first scheduled to start in September but then delayed until now.

Dion Custis, a Cheyenne defense lawyer, told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that jury selection could take two to three weeks in the death penalty case.

Castellanos has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder
