Casper/Natrona County Airport Receives Weather Recognition

Casper / Natrona County International Airport announced that the Airport has been accepted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador™. According to NOAA, the Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador™ initiative is “an effort to formally recognize NOAA partners who are improving the nation’s readiness against extreme weather, water, and climate events”.

“We are proud to be recognized and are committed to working with the NOAA to help with their efforts to strengthen the resilience against extreme weather,” said Glenn Januska, Airport Director.

“We have a great relationship with the NWS people in Riverton, and back in 2009 we worked with them on the process to become a StormReady® community.” Since the StormReady® designation, the Airport has worked with County Emergency Management on installation of an outdoor warning siren at the Airport, has developed and expanded upon a severe weather emergency plan for the Airport, and has developed a storm shelter, something particularly important not only for travelers but for the residents, employees, and businesses at the Airport. “I look forward to not only improving the storm readiness at the Airport, but to help improve readiness in the community,” said Januska.
