An elderly man trying to wash his car Wednesday morning got more than he bargained for.

Cheyenne Police spokesman Dan Long says officers responded to West Carlson Street and Gateway Drive around 10:30 a.m. after an 88-year-old man inadvertently backed his car into the Westgate guard shack.

"The gentleman driving the vehicle was at the Magic Car Wash trying to operate one of the kiosks," said Long.  "He ended up being in reverse, hitting the gas and driving in reverse away from the car wash across Carlson and hitting the guard shack."

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
