Calling All Cheyenne Artists For A Chair-ity
A face lift every now and then definitely doesn't hurt, especially when we're talking about buildings in the downtown Cheyenne area. The folks at the Atlas Theatre here in Cheyenne have been blessed to receive a nice donation to replace the chairs on the main floor of the theatre, as well as the installation of an air conditioning system.
And now? The theatre is calling all local artists to partake in this chair-ity. That's right, chair-ity.
Tammy Higgins, coordinator for the "Chair-ity" event, and Don Threewitt, Vice-President of the Board, spoke about what they plan to do with the existing chairs in the Atlas Theatre. All artists in the area are invited to come grab a chair and do something creative with it.
Artists are invited to entertain any medium that they would like, with no size or weight limit as long as the piece is easily transported. The artist must use one of the chairs provided from the Atlas Theatre for the project, but it does not have to remain in the form of a chair.
One idea that a local artist had was to melt the chair down and make jewelry out of it. Some just want to paint them and show their bright and wild imagination. There is no entry fee for this event... however, you must complete an entry form which can be picked up at the theatre.
Works of art will be on display July 9 - August 2 in the lobby of the Atlas Theatre during the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players' Old Fashioned Melodrama. There will be a variety of prizes. All proceeds goes to benefit Cheyenne Little Theatre Players and the Historic Atlas Theatre. CLTP will retain all ownership of and photo rights to all entries.
