Business Leaders Challenge Community to “Give United”
United Way of Laramie County announced an $85,000 matching funds challenge Thursday.
In its sixth year, local organizations have stepped forward to challenge the community to make a donation and have that donation matched.
"What's exciting about this campaign, this end of year push, is that we have several sponsors in the community who have donated matching funds to be able to make your donation to United Way essentially double what it would be and double the impact, the good that it will do for our community," said Matt Ashby, who chairs the 2015 United Way Campaign with his wife Brittany.
Cheyenne Regional Medical Center led the way by committing $25,000 to the challenge early in the campaign.
"Unless other people step-up, this matching campaign is not as effective as it could be," said Brittany Ashby.
Locally, United Way funds over 25 program partners. Ashby says donations will help those agencies advance the common good in areas of education, financial stability and health.
"As we enter into the holiday season, we have to remember that there are those in the community that aren't so fortunate," said Matt Ashby.
