BTNF Announces Cottonwood Lake Road Repair

The Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be placing crushed rock on the Cottonwood Lake road from August 26 to August 30, 2013. The Ranger District will close this road beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday and it is not going to be open until after 5:00p.m. on Friday.

This road work will replace surfacing which was washed away when the canyon flooded in 2011. Gravel roads are permeable surfaces and allow water to permeate the ground while leaving sediment behind. The concentrated amount of water during the flood reduced the surface cohesiveness and resulted in large ruts that require more than blading to repair it. Funding was provided through the Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) Program of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
