Missing Plane Found – No Survivors

Rich Denison, Townsquare Media

Searchers have found the plane missing since Tuesday, and report all four aboard the aircraft were killed. Albany County Undersheriff Rob DeBree confirmed the aircraft was found late Thursday afternoon.  He said the plane was located on a rocky shelf about 9,800 feet above sea level.  The summit of Laramie Peak is about 10,200 feet above sea level.  Undersheriff DeBree said because of the precarious location of the crash site, a specialized team will be brought in Friday to recover the remains.

The search began Tuesday, after the plane disappeared while it was enroute to Casper-Natrona County International Airport. The last radar contact was Tuesday afternoon near Laramie Mountain.

A massive search was conducted utilizing aircraft from a number of squadrons of the Wyoming Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, along with ground teams and several law enforcement agencies.

The Piper Saratoga, a turbo-charged six passenger single-engine aircraft was carrying four people from Texas to Casper. Family members said the four were flying to Casper on a business trip. The plan had refueled in Dodge City, Kansas after departing from Texas.

The FAA will conduct an investigation into the crash.
