The President of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Board of Trustees says Margo Karsten's work as interim CEO of the hospital was a big factor in her getting the job permanently.

Joe Evans says that while interim CEOs often approach the post in a "caretaker" role until someone can be appointed to the job permanently, Karsten did an outstanding job "of being more than just a caretaker." Evans also says Karsten wasn't afraid to make some tough decisions while serving as interim CEO.

Karsten began serving as interim CRMC CEO on September 1, 2013, following the retirement of former CEO Dr. John Lucas. The hospital board last week voted unanimously to give her the job on a permanent basis.
