As you drive around the Capital City, you may have noticed that there are silver and blue pin wheels spinning in the wind. This is to be a reminder that children are being abused.  April has been deemed as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Nothing kills our hearts more than to know a youngster has been abused by someone. Just because we don't hear of cases doesn't mean that it's not happening. Because it is.

What can we do to help strengthen families? The action campaign behind the pin wheels have a titled called, "What's Your Dot?" The idea is for us to think about what we are doing, or what can we possibly do, to help influence families in a positive way.

According to Ben Tanzer, the director of communications at Prevent Child Abuse America, when there are many dots within a local community, like Cheyenne, then we can start by connecting those dots as a solution to help bring an end to the abuse of a child.

There are other options as well. Things like family, neighborhood and community awareness. As you make this a part of your conversations, to bring awareness in others and start connecting as a community, it's easier to start building strength and help to families.

So when you see a silver and blue pin wheel spinning in the Cheyenne wind, think about ways that you can help connect dots and help save another precious child from an abusive situation.
