The Bridger-Teton National Forest has been given 2 bear resistant lockers purchased by the Greater Yellowstone Coalition which will be installed near Turpin Meadows and Pacific Creek.

The containers will be installed for outfitters to store livestock feed and other bear attractants. These are large lockers (8'x8'x10') and the Forest strategically selected to install them near Moran, WY which draws a high outfitter use rate for people accessing the Teton Wilderness. These bear resistant lockers are critical to keep bears from becoming habituated to attractants and placing them in areas that have had chronic conflicts will hopefully lessen the lethal removal or relocation of bears from the area.

Attractants include all food and drinks, regardless of packaging, along with trash, toiletries, and other scented items. These items must be stored in either an allowed bear-resistant food container or food locker, or hung in a manner that keeps the attractant unavailable to bears. The Bridger-Teton asks all visitors to report any unusual wildlife activity near campgrounds or trailheads.
