Laramie County Community College is pleased to announce that Senator John Barrasso will be the commencement speaker for this year’s ceremony, which takes place on May 11.

Barrasso has served the state of Wyoming in the United States Senate since 2007. Prior to that, he served as a senator in the Wyoming legislature and also worked as an orthopedic surgeon, earning the distinction of being Wyoming’s Physician of the Year.

With frequent appearances on various national news channels and in health and medical promotions across the state, Wyoming’s junior senator has become one of the more recognizable faces in congress.

Barrasso was selected as the speaker based on suggestions from the student body. The Student Government Association narrowed the field, and a committee made the final decision.

LCCC anticipates more than 225 graduates this spring. However, the commencement is not open to the general public.
