Several wildfires are burning in Campbell County, and county firefighters are working with the U.S. Forest Service, Wyoming State Forestry Division, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and other agencies to contain the flames.

Firefighting resources are currently devoted to the Windmill Draw Fire, the Cedar Draw III Fire, Margaret's Draw Fire, Ford Fire, Williams Creek Fire and Barber Fire.

As of Friday morning, there were no active wildfires in the county. A red flag warning was posted that day due to extreme fire danger.

Sunday saw BLM, Forest Service and State Forestry Division responding to numerous fires throughout the day and night. Most of the fires were started by lightning or arcing power lines, according to Campbell County Fire Department.

The WIndmill Draw Fire, burning in Northern Campbell County, saw small planes and helicopters dropping water on the flames in an effort to suppress the blaze throughout the afternoon and night.

The Campbell County Fire Department expects multiple fires to continue burning for the next few days.

Blazes in the eastern and northern part of the county are creating a large amount of smoke.

New fires can be reported to fire dispatch at 307-682-5319 or the Campbell County Sheriff's Office at 307-682-7271.

Authorities are asking the public to not call Station No. 1 for updates, as they are swamped with fire operations.
